My counsin (mom’s older sister’s son) is getting married in November. Should I be wearing a normal cocktail dress or should I buy an evening dress (like the ones that goes to the floor)? Would wearing dress pants be out of the question as well?

I think that it depends on how fancy the dress is and the weather where you live. If it is a “normal” wedding I would wear the cocktail dress, if it is super fancy then weary something that is a little fancier. I personally think wearing pants to a wedding is tacky but if it is really cold I guess I could see wearing them.
it also depends on the time of day the wedding takes place. if it is evening, i would go with a floor length, and for daytime, it is usually a more relaxed wedding. as far as dress pants go, it is unconventional, but i think it is more to the discretion of the bride.
